There’s nothing I love more than spontaneity, adventure and impromptu trips. Weather it’s a weekend getaway or round the world trip, the art of packing is essential for every savvy traveller.
KEEP IT SIMPLE. Only bring what you need and make sure you can mix and match each item to maximize outfit options. Pack for the best-case scenario and simply buy yourself out of any jams. Pack a few accessories in a separate smaller bag–avoid packing too many necklaces or bracelets that can tangle.
PLAN AHEAD. Pack for your destination. Check the weather, plan for where you’ll be going, what you’ll be doing and how long you’re away. Bring layers rather than a heavy coat. For shorter trips, plan your outfits around two pairs of shoes–one for day and one for night.
PACK SMART. Split up your cash, cards and valuables in different pockets and bags. Never check in essential items when flying. If you’re going on a Beach holiday, pre-pack whatever you might need at the beach into a beach bag inside your larger bag. Especially if travelling with kids, this will prove a time saver!
PACK RIGHT. Roll it up! Rolling keeps your clothes (for the most part) more wrinkle free than folding. It also optimizes space. Keep heavy items on the bottom. This means shoes, accessories and cosmetics bags. Next, place down the bulky items like your jacket or jumper. On top of that, place lighter items like shirts and slot your jeans down the sides of your bag.
HOME COMFORTS. Bring a few small items that make you feel at home when you’re away- a travel candle or your favourite hand cream should do the trick.
