STEP BACK IN TIME for a moment to the mid-15th century.
Some of the world's most prolific artists, writers and philosophers existed during this period, paving the way for how we think about the creative industries as they exist today.
The thinkers, the innovators, the pioneers.
As dusk set in, these great artists, writers and philosophers would all work by the flame of candlelight. While it certainly injected a sense of mood, it was not without purpose that a candle was lit.
It was from the mid-15th century onwards that caring for candles became more prominent. To ensure longer, steadier burn times, the wick trimmer was introduced. Before relighting a candle, the wick was cut to 5mm in length, allowing a clean, relatively smoke-free burn.
With the introduction of electricity, working to candlelight is no longer a necessity, but rather a choice. Needless to say, care for your candles is still of upmost importance and for that reason, we are so excited to have our Lumira Wick Trimmer a part of our collection.
