"THE PARTY IS A TRUE ART FORM IN SYDNEY AND PEOPLE PRACTISE IT A GREAT DEAL. YOU CAN REALLY GET QUITE LOST IN IT", BAZ LUHRMANN
WITH THE SILLY SEASON right around the corner, we thought it apropos to compile some of our top picks around Sydney to enjoy long lunches, balmy evenings and days exploring the city!
The Butler, Potts Point
The Butler in Potts Point is particularly special when the sun is shining and rain forecast is at 0mm. Get in early and book a table on the terrace. While the food is an experience in an and of itself, the sun setting over Sydney's CBD is something else. The 'Please And Thank You' is summer in a cocktail!
ACME, Potts Point
A more intimate dining experience, we enjoy ACME in smaller groups or even just a duo. Take a seat at the bench by the window, look out at Bayswater Road and order a glass of red or Aperol Spritz. We recommend the BBQ octopus followed by linguine with burnt chilli and garlic. Gastronomy at it's most delicious!
Nour, Surry Hills
Relatively new kid on the block, Nour has taken up residence in the former Tokonoma space and wow - this is real estate well occupied. If it's not for the modern Lebanese cuisine, it's for the dreamy interiors - all soft pink hues, marble and high ceilings. That's all before we've had a chance to rave on about the formidable customer service. We're totally team Nour!
Henry Deane at Hotel Palisade, Millers Point
Can you tell Sydney has a bit of a thing for pretty pastels this season? Henry Deane, the bar located at the top of Hotel Palisade in Millers Point, is exactly where you need to book your work Christmas party this year. Long lunch, incredible rose and views, views, views! The perfect spot to sip, stare and sigh (with joy... because let's face it, you're living in a city that does Summer very well)!
Love Tilly Devine, Darlinghurst
For all you sceptics that thought Love Tilly Devine was just for crisp Winter evenings... you were wrong! A seat by the window and one of the restaurants wine aficionados guiding you toward a delicious fruity drop - let's just say, mid-week beverages doesn't come much sweeter!
The Lobo Plantation, Sydney CBD
While we mostly like to keep it above ground during the warmer months, there is nothing quite like an evening at The Lobo Plantation. This Caribbean-themed bar isn't just about the rum (although we highly recommend it) - it's about good times, music and some of the most enthusiastically created cocktails we've had the pleasure of witnessing come to life!
Museum Of Contemporary Art
To say that we are simply lucky to have the Museum of Contemporary Art in the heart of Sydney's CBD would be a disservice to this incredible space. The gallery is an enthralling, innovative art experience that has played temporary home to some of the most exciting touring exhibitions - think Annie Leibovitz, Anish Kapoor, Yoko Ono and Grayson Perry.
When North Bondi just seems all a bit too much, Milk Beach, located within the Sydney Harbour National Park, is your ticket to some peace and quiet... well, for a little while anyway. This once "best-kept-Sydney-secret" is slowly becoming more and more popular. Take heed and set a 6AM alarm - you'll beat the traffic crowds and fellow sunbathers. Don't forget to slip, slop, slap with that SPF50!
Fashion boutique after fashion boutique, Mecca Cosmetica for all your international cosmetic needs and a cute cafe - this quaint Paddington precinct is all about the alfresco experience. Need something a little more refreshing post credit card workout? Head to The Village Inn, grab a seat by the window, rosé in hand and admire your #shoppinggoals. This. Is. Living.
